It is a great pleasure to welcome you to the website of the Institute of Intercultural Studies of the Jagiellonian University in Cracow. The institute is part of a dynamically developing Faculty of International and Political Studies, which is one of the youngest departments at the oldest university in Poland.
The Institute of Intercultural Studies was founded in 2001 in order to address with research and teaching the challenges of the contemporary world. The faculty do their best to contribute with their expertise to better understanding of such issues as multiculturalism, international migrations, intercultural communication, ethnic relations, minority status or integration processes and globalization. Toward better understanding of such a complex range of issues, the Institute from its beginning facilitate cooperation of researchers from different disciplinary background.
Interdisciplinarity is a characteristic feature of the Institute and one can find sociologists, historians, anthropologists, political scientists and, last but not least, specialist in the field of culture studies. We are proud to be the first research center covering such an range of research problems related to intercultural relations from the interdisciplinary perspective in Poland.
