dr Tomasz Gerlach

Polish diplomat, between 2017-2018 Director of the Polish Institute in New Delhi. He is well acquainted with Indian culture and languages being the graduate from Oriental Institute, Indology Department of the Warsaw University (he learnt sanskrit, bengali, hindi, urdu) and having spent about 16 years in the region of South-East and South Asia.

Between 2011-2013: 1 st Counsellor (Science, Technology, Economy and Culture) in the Embassy of Poland in Bangkok. 2010-2011: Department of Asia and Pacific in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Poland. 2008-2010: Representative of Polish mining companies in LAOS. 2001-2008: Charge d’Affaires /Ambassador of the Republic of Poland in the Embassy of Poland in Vientiane. In September 2008 he closed the Embassy in Laos on the request of the Polish MoFA. 1999-2001: Department of Systems of Information in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Poland. 1993-1999: Counsellor for Science, Technology and Culture in the Embassy of Poland in New Delhi. 1986: Ph.D. PhD thesis on Indian contemporary history, intellectual trends within Indian national movement from Raja Rammohan Roy upto Gandhi / Nehru. Published as “India in the consciousness of Indians” by Ossolineum, Wroclaw.
