Dr Elżbieta Wiącek - graduated in film studies from the Jagiellonian University and was awarded a doctorate in art history (2004). Her research focuses on the semiotics of audiovisual communication, film anthropology and postmodernist aesthetics. Her most important book is Filmowe podróże Abbasa Kiarostamiego [The Filmic Journeys of Abbas Kiarostami] (2004). Recently she has edited the volume Semiotyczna mapa Małopolski [Semiotic Map of Little Poland] (2015). In the institute she teaches: Semiotics, History of Art and Postmodernism. Dr Elżbieta Wiącek is a coordinator of the Erasmus programme in the institute.
